UC: Javaans hart, universele ziel...

Clarence Jahman alias 'CJ'
Started playing the keys at 9, started playing in bands since 14, started arranging own music at: 15
Through the years Clarence has played the keys in several bands for shorter and longer periods. Also through the years he arranged and produced for several solo-artistsThe band that he played in for longer periods are:

1989-1992: several bands, from rock to reggae

1992-1998: Pelangie, an exotic Javanese/Indonesian/Surinam based band. CJ Arranged all songs of their first CD.
After he left Pelangie in 1998 he also still produced one track for their next CD.
Many performances at Javanese-Surinam parties/events, also supported parties at company-parties.
Funny fact: Pelangie ever had jam-session with Hans Dulfer.

1999-2003: Poor Man Friend, one of the most up and coming dutch reggaebands in Holland. (www.poormanfriend.com)
CJ produced some songs on their debut-album also.
One song of that album was ever used in a scene in the Dutch soap-serie 'Goede tijden, slechte tijden'.
CJ had very nice performances with Poor Man Friend in clubs and at festivals in and outside of Holland.
With this band they played with some great (almost legendary) reggae-artists on stage, such as:
Lucky Dube, Bushman, Pato Banton and Poor Man Friend even was support-act for Yellowman at German tour. Poor Man Friend also did some assignment together with a dutch comedian-duo called 'Veldhuis en Kemper'.
In 2003 CJ got more busy with his own producing work and with many respect he and Poor Man Friend finished their corporation.
The contacts are still good and CJ has a 'background'function now (like being a session-musician when Poor Man Friend eventually need him in the studio)

2004- ?: UC
Through Guybert (keyboardplayer of a very wellknown Javanese/Surinam band called 'La Freak')
CJ met Jusi, an until now undiscovered female singer with lots of quality ! They wanted to know each other's music and kind of style and YES ! CJ and Jusi (UC = Jusi and the C in it = CJ) make lots of creations together in very short time so smoothly ! CJ gives the music, Jusi gives the voice, together they make UC !

2004-?: Scriptonic
CJ is the keyboardplayer/co-producer for the live-band of Hiphop-formation Scriptonics, founded by Djaga and Danstezo. For more info check www.scriptonic.nl !

Octavia Jusianti Kasio (Jusi)
Started singing when she was 6 years old. Like always many of her family-members and friends appreciated her talent and style for singing.
Not many years later she started to write her own melody-lines and also started to write her own lyrics, with or without the help of an external text-writer.
On several parties she was performing many times as a special act or guest-singer within the party, surprising the crowd being a little girl with a big voice. She also sang songs that are wellknown to many Javanese/Indonesian people, like 'Jankrek Genggong', 'Es lilin mah'.
Through the years she performed with several bands and also as solo-artist. She also ever did some guest-performance on a CD-album of a wellknown Surinam/Javanese singer Stanley Rabidin, who is also the leadsinger of the Surinam/Javanese group called La Freak, where Jusi's cousin Guybert plays the keys.

Jusi got inspiration and influenced by artists such as: Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Brand New Heavies, Mariah Carey, Eric Benet, Total Touch

Through the years Jusi kept on singing and singing, with the wish to ever make her own CD-album, so people can share the joy that she makes out of music.
And then, in 2004 her cousin Guybert introduced her to Clarence Jahman (CJ), their styles and way of creating music matched very well and since then Jusi and CJ worked together, CJ as the composer/producer and Jusi for vocals, together they are UC !
